Our family’s connection to CURE Childhood Cancer began in a way no family ever expects.
When our niece, Bernadette, aka Bernie, was just 18 months old, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (aml). In an instant, life shifted from playdates and first words to hospital rooms, tests, treatments, and long days and nights at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.
Those early weeks and months were incredibly overwhelming for our entire family. But through it all, CURE Childhood Cancer was there.
They surrounded Bernie and her parents with support, resources, and compassion during some of the hardest moments imaginable. From emotional support to practical help, they walked alongside our family every step of the way.
Today, we are incredibly grateful to say that Bernie is now 11 years old and thriving. Watching her grow, laugh, and live life to the fullest is something we never take for granted.
Our fundraiser is our way of giving back to an organization that meant so much to our family during such a difficult time. CURE Childhood Cancer continues to provide critical support for families facing childhood cancer and funds life-saving research so that more children like Bernie can grow up healthy and strong.
We are forever grateful for the care, hope, and support they gave our family — and we are honored to help continue their mission.
On May 2nd, we are hosting a watch party for The American Dream TV, a nationally syndicated, Emmy-nominated show that we host. The event will take place at South Main Brewing in Wire Park from 5–8 PM. Brock Toole will be joining us as co-host for a fun evening, and 10% of the proceeds will be donated to CURE Childhood Cancer.

Every year in the United States, nearly 17,000 innocent children are forced into the fight of a lifetime with a cancer diagnosis. Decades of research have pushed the survival rates above 80%, more children are lost to cancer than any other disease. And two-thirds of those who do survive suffer long-term effects from the treatments used to save their lives. Notwithstanding, less than 5% of federal funding for cancer research is aimed at solving childhood cancers. That's why it's critical that CURE pours funds into research - so science, and treatments, continue to advance.
Come join the fight with me to cure childhood cancer while honoring our HERO, Bernadette!!
